Maggie May Hiatt

SERVICES CONDUCTED FOR MRS. MAGGIE HIATT, SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie May Hiatt were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at the Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Mitchell, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. C. W. Taylor.

Music for the service was rendered by a ladies quartet composed of Mrs. J. N. Kern, Mrs. C. W. Hamill, Mrs. Donald Brown and Mrs. Harry Dodson who sang "Abide With Me," "Have Thine Own Way" and "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go." Mrs. Ivy Horn was at the piano.

Casket bearers were Joe Shelby Snider, John N. Kern, O. E. Nuernberger, Norman Talkington, Kenzel Protzman and Harry Dodson.

Interment was in the Verden Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hiatt was born May 3, 1872 at Hiawatha, Kansas and died May 20, 1948 in a Chickasha hospital following several months illness. She was married to Aaron A. Hiatt in Topeka, Kansas on December 30, 1896. They moved to Verden in 1901. Her husband and three children preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Christian Church, Royal Neighbor and Rebekah Lodges and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. J. W. Triplett, Verden; 1 son Oliver Hiatt, Bakersfield, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Lillie Oats, Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Oliver Hiatt, Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Helen Kruger, Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Protzman and daughter, Charlene, Tulsa; and Mrs. Roy Poage and daughter Miss Nina May, Okla. City.
