Edward Elwood Walters Jr

Funeral service for Edward Elwood Walters, Jr., age 71, of Rush Springs, OK, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19th, 2005 at Southern Baptist Church. Rev. Elmer Whitehead officiated.

Edward Elwood Walters, Jr. was born the son of Edward Simms Walters and Marion Goldston Walters on Tuesday, June 19, 1934 in Kechi, OK.

He died on Friday, December 16, 2005.

He married his wife Jane on June 19, 1983 in Chickasha, OK.

Edward loved church, eating, gardening, and the coffee shop. He was the song leader and deacon of the Missionary Baptist. He worked at Walmart after retiring from teaching.

Growing up, everyone knew him as JR. He was a member in the Southern Baptist Church were he was involved in the budget, finance, building and grounds work.

Survivors: Wife, Jane Walters of Rush Springs, OK; son, Rick Walters and wife Lisa of Rush Springs, OK; two stepsons, Richy Large and wife Jeanne of Rush Springs, OK; Todd Large and wife Donna of Ada, OK, two brothers, Bobby Walters of Corpus Christi, TX; Carey Dan Walters of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren; and great aunt, Aileen Webster of Rush Springs, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Zackie Walters and Twain Walters, and one sister, Norma Gail Moore.

Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home of Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
