Doris Marie [Thompson] Morris

Funeral service for Doris Marie Thompson Morris, age 80, of Chickasha, will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday May 22, 2007 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Doris Marie Thompson Morris was born March 3, 1927 in Alex, Oklahoma. She died Saturday May 19, 2007 in Chickasha. She was the daughter of G.W. "Doc" and Mamie [Wilson] Thompson

Doris was raised on a farm west of Chickasha and had a great love for horses. Her horse was named "Tony" and she always had a special love for him.

She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women. She taught school in Oklahoma City and California. She later taught at Elk City until her retirement. She moved back to Chickasha in 1975.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha. She was active with the Church choir and Joy Choir.

She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was active in the Genealogy Society and was a member of the Chickasha Historical Society.

Her parents and one brother Melt Thompson preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one daughter and her husband: Marla and Randy Brown of Chickasha; one son and his wife: Terry and Johnnie Morris of Savannah, Georgia; one brother and his wife: Homer and Madeline Thompson of Cyril; sister in law: Verna Lhea Thompson of Chickasha; four grandchildren: Jason Morris, Shannon Morris, Benjamin Brown and Chris Hendrix.

Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
