"John Ireton's father, also named John Ireton, was born in 1819 in Ireland. In about 1842, he married Elizabeth Sullivan, who was born in 1823, also in Ireland. Their first four children were born there: Mary Ireton (b. 1843); Thomas Ireton (b. 1848); Jenny Ireton (b. 1849); and Henry S. (1850). While there is a grave marker that says John Ireton Sr. was born in Ballengary, which is in County Kerry, Ireland others believe he was born in County Wexford. [I said Ballingarry was in County Kerry -- there's a Ballingarry Island in County Kerry, but there's also another Ballingarry, and it's in County Tipperary. I'm not sure which one John Ireton is said to be from.] In any case, their youngest child born in Ireland, Henry, was born in Corey, County Wexford, so that was the last place they lived in Ireland. In 1850 the family emigrated to the U.S. and settled in Butler County, Ohio, in the St. Clair Township near Hamilton (Cincinnati area) and later in Milford Township, Ohio. John (b. 1855) was the first of their children born in the United States. The family moved to Cowley County, Kansas in 1870.

John and Elizabeth had a large family -- at least twelve children were born before Elizabeth died in 1879. John Sr. was briefly married to Bridgett O'Brien in 1880, then married a third time to a much younger Irish immigrant, Bridget Kinseela (b. 1861) in 1881. He was then 61, she was 20. John and Bridget had six children, including another boy named John. John Sr. died in 1893 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas" One of the sisters of the John Ireton born in 1855, the one buried near the beautiful angel in Grady, was Ellen Clare (Nellie) Ireton (b. 1862). She married Charles Streber (b in Germany, 1851) in Kansas in 1889. By 1910 they were living in Cement, Oklahoma, and in 1920, were in Tuttle, Grady County, Oklahoma. Several of their children are listed in the Fairview Cemetery, and I have heard that Nellie and Charlie may be buried there, but I have not yet located their graves. "
