Minco, Oklahoma September 1938 December 22, 1855 ~ September 19, 1938 J. W. Shockey Rites Today Long-Time Resident Of Minco Community Dies Minco, September 20 - Funeral services for John Wesley Shockey were to be held in the Friendship Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. The service was to be conducted by Rev E. M. Walker with burial in the Friendship Cemetery. Mr Shockey, who was 82 years of age, died at his home southwest of Minco on Monday. He had been in failing health for the past year, but was only seriously ill for a short time. He had lived in his present home for the past 36 years. He is survived by 14 children: four daughters, Mrs Etta Dean and Mrs Ella Hawkins of Monta Vista, Col, Mrs Myrtle Clemmons of South Hlouston, Texas, Mrs Alice Hawkins of Amber; 10 sons, Albert, Wilbu and Irva of Phoenix, Arizona, Henry of Caldwell, Kansas, Ldewis of Monta Vists, Col. George and Porter of Pocasset, Doia, Lesie and Sheman of Minco. |
© Anadarko Daily News Anadarko, Oklahoma September 20, 1962 June 2, 1896 ~ September 19, 1962 Services for Dorcey McKinley Shockey will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Friendship Church with buril to follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Dorcey was a farmer. He was in ill health for several months znd died on September 19 in a Chickasha Nursing Home. Dorcey was born on June 2, 1896 in West Virginia and moved north of Verden in 1902 where the family home is still located. His mailing address is Route 2, Minco, Oklahoma. He was a patient in the Veteran's Hospital in Oklahoma City before being transferred to the nursing home in Chickasha. Dorsey was married on December 23, 1923 to Miss Hattie Opal Freed in Chickasha. They had no children. Dorcey was a member of the Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I. Left to mourn Dorcey’s passing are his wife, four sisters and seven brothers. |

Shockey, 62, Route 2, Minco, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Friendship United Methodist Church, southwest of Minco. Rev Harold McCreery of Chickasha will officiate. Mrs Shockey was born March 27, 1920, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. She died Saturday morning, April 17, 1982, at her home. She was married to Sherman T. Shockey on August 3, 1950 in Pocasset and moved to the area at that time. Mrs Shockey was a homemaker and a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Theresa Hoerth, two sisters, Helen Fellwock and Florence Fellwock, and two brothers, Harold and Walter Hoerth. She is survived by her husband, Sherman T., of home; four daughters, Mrs Elenora Wicox of Norco, Calif., Mrs Wanona Galer and Mrs Sue Riley of Chickasha, and Mrs Rowena Bowen of Vancouver, Wash.; two brothers, Victor Hoerth of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Ben Hoerth of Hartford, Wisconsin; and six sisters, Mrs Laura Zingsheim of Lomira, Wisconsin, Mrs Bernice Dill of Kiel, Wisconsin, Mrs Rina Powers of Mayville, Wisconsin, Mrs Tony Schuessler of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mrs Lucille Swick of Crivitz, Wisconsin, Mrs Lillian Stenz of Oakfield, Wisconsin; 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery under direction of Reynolds Funeral Home, Minco. |

Sherman Taft Shockey was born February 27, 1909 at Minco to John Wesley and Mary Martha Shockey and died Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at Chickasha. Mr Shockey had lived in the Minco community all of his life. He married Katherine Kristina Hoerth on August 5, 1950 at Pocasset. He was a farmer and retired in 2000. Mr Shockey was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church. He moved to Chickasha in 1985 after his wife Katherine passed away. Mr Shockey was preceded in death by his parents: John and Katherine Shockey; one granddaughter: Misty Riley; ten brothers: Ralph, Wilbur, Henry, Albert, Porter, George, Dorey, Irvy, Lewis and Lester Shockey; two sisters: Etta Dean and Ella Fansler. He is survived by three daughters: Eleanora Wilcox of Riverside, California, Wanona Ellis of Enid, Sue Keating of Chickasha; two sisters: Alice Hawkins of Monte Vista, Colorado, Myrtle Clemmons of La Porte, Texas; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren. |
