Ollie E. Wood, 84, passed away May 18th at Hillcrest Hospital after a sudden illness.

Services 2pm Thursday, May 21, Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Sons Mortuary. Born in Lynchburg, TN., and had farmed in the Newcastle area for the past 52 years.

Survivors: his wife, Audie of the home, 4 sons, Eugene Hogue of Wichita, KS, Don Wood of Mustang, OK., Joe of Yukon, Walter of Wyoming, 1 daughter, Mrs Betty Merrill of OKC, 2 brothers, Roy Wood of S. Carolina, and J.D. of Hugo, OK., 4 sisters, Dixie Beatty of Ore., Mattie Lee Wells of Blanchard, OK., Sadie Carr of Washington, OK., & Erma Dean Lee of Okla., 11 grandchildren, & 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the First Baptist church for John Wood. He had been a resident of the Tuttle community for many years.

He was born at Minco on 5/5/1903 and had farmed most of his life prior to moving to Tuttle town about 6 years ago, when he engaged in the poultry business.

He was a member of the Rod & Gun Club and loved the sport of hunting & fishing.

Stricken with a stroke on April 14, he was a patient in Grady Memorial hospital when death came.

Those to mourn his passing are his wife, Nola, of the home, 1 daughter, Mrs Cyrus Shaw of Edmond, 1 grandson, Mike, 3 brothers, Ollie of Newcastle, J.D., & Roy of Norman, 4 sisters, Mrs Dixie Beaty of Ashland, Ore., Mrs Mattalee Wells of Oklahoma City, Mrs Sadie Carr of Newcastle, & Mrs Erma Lee of Tuttle.

Rev Alvin McConnell, assisted by Rev William Anderson, officiated at the services.

Music was provided by a quartet.

Pallbearers were Joe Conner, Frank Bennett, Freely Doss, Mac Cooley, Phil Smith, & Leslie Hines.

Interment was in the Tuttle cemetery under the direction of the Sowers Funeral Home.

Graveside services for Cecil Elliott Wood, 71, of 2538 NW 110, will be at 2pm Wednesday at Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, directed by Capitol Hill funeral home.

Wood, a former merchant policeman, died Sunday at a local nursing home after a long illness.

He was born in Lake Charles, La, and came to Oklahoma City in 1971.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army and a member of the Grand View Baptist church, Muskogee.

Survivors include 2 sons, James Sr, of the home, & Joe of Asbury Park, N.J., 2 sisters, Mrs Lena Mae Stracener of Lake Charles, & Mrs Dona Fox of Fresno, Calif., 8 grandchildren, & a great-grandson.

Graveside services for Nola Belle [Shilling] Wood, 73, of Tuttle, will be at 1:30 pm Friday in the Fairview cemetery of Tuttle with Rev Orin Daniels officiating.

Mrs Wood was born 3/4/1907 in Asher, OK and passed away early Tuesday evening in the Tuttle Nursing home following a long illness.

She came to Tuttle from Fletcher in 1925 and taught school in the Tuttle area until her retirement in 1970.

She married John Wood on 8/23/1933 in Oklahoma City and he preceded her in death in 1964.

She was a lifelong member of many organizations associated with teaching and a member of United Methodist church of Tuttle.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Norma Shaw of Tuttle, 1 brother, J.D. Shilling, 2 sisters, Ola Jones & Mildred Johnson, her mother, Myrtle Shilling, 1 grandson, Michael D. Shaw, and 1 great granddaughter, Tonya Shaw, all of Tuttle.

Interment will be under direction of Sevier's Tuttle funeral home.

Gerald James "Jack" Wood

Funeral service for Gerald James "Jack" Wood, 83, of Tuttle, were held Tuesday, 7/14/2009, at the Freewill Baptist church in Stratford.

Graveside services were held at Fairview cemetery, Tuttle.

Gerald James "Jack" Wood passed from this life and into the arms of the Lord at the age of 83 on Friday, 7/10/2009, at Moore Medical center.

Jack was born to Roy & Myrtle Wood on 2/18/1926.

Jack learned the importance of hard work at an early age, working on the family farm in Stratford.

In 1946, after serving in the Army, he was married to the love of his life, Waneva Jean Hunt, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.

He was a member of Stratford Freewill Baptist church. Jack & Waneva lived most of their lives in Oklahoma City.

Jack was owner/operator of AAA Rentals and J & I Hitch.

In 1975, Jack & Waneva retired to Lake Texoma, leaving their business in the hands of their family. They later returned to the childhood hometown of Stratford, where they renewed old friendships and made many new ones.

Jack returned to the life he knew as a young boy, working his farm, "The Old Shilo Ranch", and working his cattle.

In 2001, Jack & Waneva moved to Tuttle to be closer to their daughters and many grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Waneva of the home, 3 brothers, Floyd & Harold of Tuttle and Gus of Newcastle, 4 daughters & their husbands, Joyce & John VanHauen, Carolyn & Roger Cole, Debbie & Danny Robinett, all of Tuttle, and Jackie & Bill Reeves of El Reno, and 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Floyd Nelson Wood Sr
August 7, 1929 ~ December 5, 2011


Floyd Nelson Wood Sr departed from this world on Monday, December 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He was born on August 7, 1929, in Stratford, Oklahoma, to William D. Roy Wood and Myrtle Elsie Williams.

Floyd married Ruby McIntyre in 1950. Of their union, three children were born: Marceda Ritchie, Floyd Nelson Wood Jr, and wife, Debbie, and Michael Ray Wood, and wife, Cindy.

On September 19, 1980, Floyd married Helen Louise Copeland and her five children: Monty Paul Copeland, Kimberly Sikes and husband, Mark, Lane Copeland, Krystal Hutchison and husband, Derrick, and Craig Copeland.

Floyd served his country in the U.S. Air Force from February 1951 to June 1952. Following his honorable discharge, he began a long and varied career path.

He worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas; he owned several service stations, sold real estate and worked in the auto accessories business. He even operated his own fruit and vegetable stand after his retirement.

Floyd loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger days. He also enjoyed working in his garden alongside his hoeing partner, Helen. Floyd also enjoyed traveling in his fifth wheel trailer.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald "Jack" Wood.

Floyd is survived by his wife and children, two brothers, Harold and Gus. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, cousins, and a host of friends locally and across the country.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Tuttle Church of Christ.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard, Oklahoma.

Ruby J. [Wood] of Minco, OK, died January 17, 1997 at the age of 64 in Chickasha, OK. Ruby was born November 8, 1932 in Reed Springs, MO, to Segle and Pearl Mories.

Ruby retired from Health South Rehab as a Dietary Manager.

She was a member of the Sharon Evangel Church of Tuttle.

Ruby is survived by her sons: Wallace Weeks of Houston, TX; Clifford Weeks of Hiawatha, KS; Rick Weeks of Buffalo, MN; daughters: Dawn Osborne of Tuttle, OK; Donna Daughtery of Minco, OK; sister: Margie Boyce of Washington; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents.

Ruby was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all of her family and friends.

Services will be 2: 00 pm Tuesday January 21, 1997 at Sharon Evangel Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery.

Ruby Charlene Wood, 79, of Tuttle, died May 29, 2013 in Oklahoma City. The daughter of Haskel Elsworth and Theora Belle [Evans] McIntyre, she was born October 17, 1933 in Oklahoma City.

She was a member of the Tuttle Christian Fellowship Church.

In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Ruby's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joe and Haskel McIntyre; two sisters, Zella Shelton and Winnie Orr.

Ruby is survived by her sons, Butch Wood and wife, Debbie, of Tuttle and Mike Wood and wife, Cindy, of Blanchard; daughter, Marceda Ritchie of Tuttle; six grandchildren, Ryan Blaine of Yukon, Trent Wood and wife, Desiree, of Newcastle, Lainie Cocannoeur and husband, Bo, of Tuttle, Grady Wood of Yukon, Leah Taylor and husband, Jeremy, of Bridge Creek and Stephanie Phillips and husband, Billy, of Amber; ten great grandchildren, Brooks and Preslee Wood, Hadley and Havyn Cocannouer, Christian, Mallory, and Taryn Taylor, Lauryn, Hayden and Dylann Phillips; four sisters, Shirley Biggers of Scottsdale, Arizona, Betty Wilkerson and husband, Joe, of Kingston, LaDonna Sheppard and husband, Bill, of Kingston and Sandra Blair and husband, Jim, of Milburn; and many other loved ones and friends.

Harold Lewis Wood

Harold Lewis Wood, a teacher to hundreds, a mentor to many, a friend to all, but most importantly, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Sunday, August 27, 2023, at his home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Harold was born on April 30, 1938, to Roy D. Wood and Myrtle Elsie Wood in Stratford, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gerald James, Floyd Nelson, and Gustin Lynn, as well as the love of his life, his wife, Laura Yvonne Wood.

He is survived by his four daughters, Denise Lynne Sims and husband Jim, Kimberly Ann Williams and husband Kent, Cheryl Jean Wagoner and husband John, and Vickie Kay Ortiz and husband Marcos.

In addition to his girls, he was a devoted grandpa to his thirteen grandchildren, Derek, Jamie, Brody, Katie, Jill, Tara, Alli, Stephanie, Kelsi, Nikki, Sierra, Chaston, Evrett, and nineteen great grandchildren.

Harold was nothing short of an amazing man with many accomplishments leaving his family with an incredible legacy. He has left a mark on so many and will forever be remembered and appreciated by those who loved him. He will be greatly missed by not only his family, but by the many hearts that he touched in his lifetime.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Newcastle Free Will Baptist Church.

Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery at Tuttle, Oklahoma.

The service will be officiated by Frank Giles. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.

Helen Louise [Plumlee] Wood

Helen Louise [Plumlee] Wood of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away in her home on the morning of November 14, 2021, surrounded by her five children. She was 82.

Born on June 10, 1939, to C.P. "Pete" and Elgiva Plumlee, Helen was the only girl out of 7 children.

Helen lived in Tuttle for most of her life and was the matriarch of her family.

She was the life of the party every time her family or friends gathered around her for the holidays or an event. Helen had a profoundly positive impact on the lives she created and influenced. She will be remembered for her warmth, unwavering faith, and witty humor.

She retired in 2004 after working as an insurance adjuster in Oklahoma City, OK.

She was a lifelong Bible scholar and an active member of her church.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Europe and Asia with her husband Floyd, and in their later years, they enjoyed trips to the lake and camping in their fifth-wheel camper.

Helen was preceded in death by her brothers Louis, Wayne, Vernon, Hubert, and Joe, and her husband of 31 years, Floyd N. Wood.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Paul, and Joy; and five children and their spouses: Monty [Stephanie], Kim [Mark Sikes], Lane [Jennifer], Krystal [Derrick Hutchison], and Craig [Karey Henderson. She was a loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren: Matthew, Amber, Heather, Chelsea, Brianna, Landon, Hailee, Colby, Brandon, Mackenzie, Hannah, and Isabella.

She had 5 great-grandchildren with more babies coming in 2022.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Tuttle Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.

In lieu of flowers, Helen has requested that donations be made to the Tipton Children's Home.

Gustin Lynn "Gus" Wood

Gustin Lynn Wood, age 78, of Newcastle, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born July 2, 1943, to Roy D. and Myrtle Elsie Wood of Stratford, Oklahoma.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerold James Wood of Stratford and Floyd Nelson Wood of Tuttle.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Lee Wood and two daughters and their spouses, Jan and Brent Fairchild of Cole and Sherry and Jerred Vandevort of Washington. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Joshua and wife Kayla, and Autumn, Elizabeth and Lilly Vandevort, as well as two great grandchildren Rylee and Jackson. He is also survived by his brother Harold Lewis Wood of Tuttle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gus grew up in Stratford, Oklahoma and graduated from Stratford High School. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Then he received a doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1971.

He was granted membership in the Rho Chi Society, an honorary Pharmaceutical Honor Society.

Gus loved to spend his time watching OU football, gardening, restoring old cars, woodworking, fishing on Lake Texoma, and of course spending time with his family. He loved doing things with his grandkids and great grandkids.

A favorite destination of his was Silver Dollar City in Branson.

He and Bonnie loved to strike out on road trips with no destination at all - just driving!

Gus was very intelligent, opinionated, and some would include ornery [LOL]. But seriously, he was a kind, caring man who knew how to keep good friends. He will be missed by all who love him.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Free Will Baptist Church in Newcastle.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Tuttle.

Interment will be in the Fairview cemetery, Tuttle, under direction of Seviers Tuttle funeral home.
