Samuel Leon Dennis, 91, of Duncan passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in the Oklahoma Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Fairview Cemetery at Tuttle, Oklahoma with Reverend officiating. Services are under the direction of the Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.

Sam was born July 15, 1921 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of James William and Ella Muady Dennis. He served in the United States Air National Guard. He and Nina Ruth Carr were married July 22, 1953 at Midwest City, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death May 20, 2005. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic until his retirement in 1979. He enjoyed collecting coins, copper wire, cans and gardening. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his daughter Betty Jo Swindall and her husband Cecil of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nina Ruth [Carr] Dennis
April 4, 1926 ~ May 5, 2005


Nina Ruth Dennis, 79, of Duncan, passed away Friday, 5/20/2005, at her home. Graveside services will be at 10 am Tuesday in Fairlawn cemetery, Tuttle, with Rev Jimmy Green officiating. Burial will be under direction of Bailes-Polk funeral home.

Mrs Dennis was born 4/4/1926, near Wynnewood, the daughter of James Ared "J.A." and Dora Ann Abney Carr. She & Samuel Dennis were married 7/22/1953 in Soldier Creek Baptist church, Midwest City. She was a homemaker who enjoyed making comfort pillows, crafts, working in her flower garden, sewing, and traveling.

Survivors include her husband of the home in Duncan, and a daughter & son-in-law, Betty Jo & Cecil Swindell of Oklahoma City. She was preceded in death by her parents.
