Cherry was a faithful Christian and a member of the Newcastle First Baptist Church since moving to Newcastle. She taught preschool Sunday school for many years.

In her later years as her health began to fail, she lived in Norman at The Gardens at Rivermont.

For enjoyment Cherry loved spending time with grandchildren, going to the beach, playing dominoes, going to basketball games and having family get-togethers.
