James E. "Jim" Wilson
December 10, 1923 ~ June 20, 2009


Funeral Services for James E. "Jim" Wilson, 85 of Chickasha will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00am in the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Mosier officiating and Rev. Chuck Patterson assisting.

James E. Wilson was born December 10, 1923 in Purcell, Oklahoma the son of James E. "Tete" Wilson and Tommie M. Julian Wilson.

He went to be with the Lord on June 20, 2009 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

He attended school in Hawkins and Alex, Oklahoma and helped his parents on their Grady County farm.

His father was killed in the line of duty as a deputy sheriff when Jim was eleven. When Jim was a sophomore, he saw his mother walking to the team of mules to plow. He got back off the bus and stayed home to help her run the farm until he enlisted in the military. He served overseas with the Army Air Corp during the occupation of Germany in 1944.

He returned home to Oklahoma, settling in Blanchard after his tour of duty. He worked for more than a decade at Tinker Air Force Base as a production scheduler.

In 2005 Jim was honored at Alex High School when he received his High School Diploma.

In the 1960s, Wilson went into business for himself, owning and operating several Chickasha manufacturing companies that dealt with horse trailers and related supplies. He retired in the 1990s and was a longtime and active member of Calvary Baptist Church. He also served over a decade on the Chickasha Bank Board of Directors.

He was preceded in death by both parents, one daughter Julie Johnson two brothers DeAuther Wilson and Rease Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; five children, Gary and Angela Wilson of Wisconsin, John and Vicki Wilson of Chickasha, Jana and Phil Oates of Sacramento, Calif. Steve and Michelle McCauley of Broken Arrow, and James E. Wilson of Chickasha; three sisters Naomi and Ben McClure of New Iberia, La, Joyce Allen of Blanchard, and Anita Stidham of Chickasha; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be sent to Faith Medical Missions PO Box 1626 Chickasha, Oklahoma 73023.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
