Mitchell Wesley West
November 15, 1938 ~ November 26, 2021

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mitchell Wesley West was born in Ninnekah, Oklahoma on November 15, 1938 to Golda and Gilmore "Jack" West.

Mitchell would tell you he grew up without electricity and indoor plumbing and shared many adventures with his 9 brothers and sisters.

He graduated from Ninnekah High School with a class of 16.

After graduating high school, Mitchell joined the Marines where he served in numerous roles.

After leaving the Marines, Mitchell started working at Western Electric in Oklahoma City. Although the name on the door changed as the company was bought and sold, Mitchell remained with the company for 43 years, including leading the company's operations in Mexico right before his retirement.

Mitchell went to college while working for Western Electric and attended University of Central Oklahoma. While his heart forever remained an OU Sooner, Mitchell loved the business experience he received at UCO.

His coworkers dubbed him Superman, and it was a title he earned both at work and at home.

Mitchell was an avid runner, running multiple marathons in Oklahoma and beyond, several under 3 hours. While running was his passion, Mitchell grew up playing baseball and basketball, playing baseball in the Marines as well as the Western Electric Company Team. He went on to run several half-marathons with his daughter and he would tell you that he always won in his age group [for context, he ran his last race at 79 years old].

Mitchell retired and spent his time working in the yard and running. But retirement would be short-lived, as Mitchell and Kaye moved to Austin to be closer to their grandchildren. With overactive grandkids, Papa never missed a game, a performance, and sometimes even a practice. Often donning his red Marines cap, Mitchell was ever on the sidelines, cheering during the game and talking up his grandkids to other parents during timeouts and intermissions.

Mitchell passed on November 26, 2021, joining his parents and his brothers and sisters Ray, Georgia, G.W., Delbert, Juanita in heaven.

Mitchell is survived by his wife Kaye, his son Robbie and his wife Robyn, as well as his daughter Stacey and her husband Mitchell, and their kids Anderson and Harper. Mitchell is also survived by his brothers and sisters Cora, James, Pairalee, and Kenneth, and a very long list of friends.
