Edna Lucille [Dowd] Smith
January 8, 1944 ~ November 17, 2005


Edna Lucille Smith, 61, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, November 17, 2005. Edna was born January 8, 1944 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Louis & Mary Ellen [Moon] Dowd.

Edna married Edward Smith, Sr., on March 22, 1961 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1995. She received her CMA degree and worked for a home health service. Edna was a loving caring person. She loved people and her family. She especially loved her grandchildren. She had a great passion for roses. Edna will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include: five children: Sheila Newton & husband, Donnie, Chickasha, Oklahoma; Edward Smith. Jr. & wife, Glenda, Salisbury, North Carolina, William Smith & wife, Charlotte, Chickasha, Oklahoma, Kenneth Smith & wife, Jamie, Chickasha, Oklahoma; Randy Sires & wife, Sky, Woodward, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Ken Dowd, Grandby, Missouri; one son-in-law, Frank Sires, Chickasha, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives & loving friends.

Edna is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; daughter, Sadonna Sires; two granddaughters: Ami & Misty; two grandsons: Peewee & Clyde; numerous brothers & sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Smith-Hackney Funeral Chapel, Anadarko, Oklahoma with Rod Carrol, Church of Christ, Ninnekah, Oklahoma, officiating.

Burial was in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma under the direction of Smith-Hackney Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 18, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
