Frank Rethford
October 27, 1900 ~ October 27, 1986


Graveside service for Frank Rethford, age 104, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Rev. Johnny Wray will officiate.

Frank Rethford was born the son of John Allen Rethford and Joanna D'Lacey Rethford on October 27, 1900, in Fordland, Missouri. He died on June 20, 2005, in Chickasha.

He married Mary Etta Jones on September 5, 1929, in Vinita, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1986.

Frank graduated from high school in Fordland, Missouri in 1918. In 1948, Frank lived in Oklahoma City and moved to Spencer in 1959. He moved to Spencer in 1959. He moved to Chickasha in 1991. Frank was a master carpenter and a member of the Carpenter Local Union for over fifty years. He helped build the Veterans Administration Hospital, Will Rogers World Airport, the Oklahoma City University Chapel, and the Douglas Plant now Tinker Air Force Base.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fordland, Missouri.

Frank's parents, nine brothers, one sister, and one son, Franklin Leon Rethford, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter and husband, Jannis & Bill McVey of Chickasha; grandson and wife, Jeffrey & Rena McVey of Tuttle; granddaughter and husband, Shelli & Craig Wasson of Oklahoma City; one great grandson, Mitchel Hart McVey of Edmond.

Frank was very proud of his great grandson, Mitchell, who was a member of the United States Marine Corps serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.
