Mary Jean [Parkey] Moore
February 14, 1924 ~


Funeral service for Mary Jean Moore, age 85, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Larry Hatfield will officiate.

Mary Jean was born the daughter of Taylor Parkey and Florine Smith Parkey on February 14, 1924, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She died on October 2, 2009, in Chickasha.

She married Robert E. "Bob" Moore on November 13, 1944, in Dallas, Texas. Mary was a "stay at home" Mom while her children were young. She and Bob owned an American Motors Dealership and a used car business. Mary worked in billing and collections for Sentry Manufacturing Company. Mary and Bob enjoyed riding motorcycles and the Antique Car Club.

She was a member of the D.A.R., Genealogical Society, Eastern Star, and served as an ombudsman for local nursing homes.

Mary was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and attended St. Luke's Episcopal Church in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son, Robert E. "Rob" Moore, Jr., and brother, Taylor J. Parkey.

Survivors include: Son and Wife: Cliff and Pam Moore of Chickasha; Daughter and Husband: Glenda and John Crump of Chickasha; Granddaughter and Husband: Tasha and Dave Smith of Edmond; Granddaughter and Husband: Shana and Chris Sagasta of Phoenix, Arizona; Great Grandchildren: Aubrey Smith of Edmond; Tiffany, Sabrina, and Derek of Phoenix, Arizona.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grady County Historical Society.
