Brother Of Local Woman Dies At Chickasha Home

Funeral services for Ralph Elwood McMahan, brother of Mrs. W.D. Warner, Route 1, Carnegie, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sevier Funeral chapel, Chickasha.

Interment was in Fairlawn cemetery, north of Chickasha.

Born November 13, 1902, at Union City, he had been a resident of Chickasha and community since a boy.

He had been ill for some time before his death June 11.

He was married and had two sons, Elwood and Jim. He had been a member of the Christian church and of the Masonic lodge for many years.

He is survived by the wife, Kathryn, the two sons and four grandchildren, all of Chickasha; and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Warner attended the services Saturday.

James Richard McMahan
July 26, 1927 ~


James Richard McMahan was born July 26, 1927 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Ralph E. and Katherine [Brown] McMahan.

Jim went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his home in Chickasha at the age of 89, just shy of his ninetieth birthday, with his loving family by his side.

In 1943, Jim left high school to join the Merchant Marines. He served three tours as an oiler, fireman. After finishing his tour of duty, he returned to Chickasha and finished high school at the Holy Name Catholic School. Upon graduation, he joined his father in the family business, Ralph & Sons Oldsmobile.

Jim married LaNell Carr. From this union two daughters were born, Connie Sue and Sally Gail. Jim later married Kathryn "Kathey" McMahan. There were married forty years on October 12, 2016.

Jim served as Exalted Ruler and trustee of the Chickasha Elks Lodge #2125. He also served as councilman for the City of Chickasha from 1972 to 1976. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.

He loved to travel with his father racing go-carts. He also loved to race stock cars and was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved to fish and play poker, but most of all he liked pulling pranks. He was quite the jokester.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Connie Sue McMahan.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathey McMahan; Daughter, Sally Gail McMahan; Stepdaughters: Sandi Barton Crosley;Cindi Barton Roehrich and her husband, Dawayne; Grandson, M. Brody McMahan and his wife, Brooke; Granddaughter, Chelsea Crosley; Great grandchildren: Danica McMahan, Rebecca "Fluff" Crosley, Elijah Crosley and Chloe Crosley; Extended family, Scott Want, Bryan Want, Gerry Badgett, Jr., Jimmie Johnson, John Carr, Thomas "Bud" Carr and Sue Sullins.
