I am now ready to be offered. The time of my departure is now at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.: II Timothy 4:6,7.

Marguerite Gladys Hayden-Johnson was born in Chickasha, OK, to Joseph and Isabelle Hayden. Both parents and two siblings [Johnnie Mae Stroud and Jane ll Daly] preceded her in death.

At an early age, Marguerite clamed Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Chickasha, OK. Marguerite attended Houston Tillotson College in Austin, TX, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in social studies.

Marguerite pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and served in the sisterhood for fifty years.

Marguerite moved to Fort Polk, LA, in the 1960s. She met Frank Johnson, Jr.; they united in holy matrimony on September 14, 1971.

She worked as a Civil Service employee for 25 years. Also, for many years, Marguerite worked as a volunteer at the West Louisiana Museum. She was a member of the Natchitoches Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. In 1976, under the leadership of Reverend J. H. Lee, Margaurite united with the Mount Olive Baptist Church located in Leesville, LA. While at Mount Olive Baptist Church, she was very active until her health failed. Church activities included the Senior Mission and Senior Citizens auxiliary.

Marguerite departed this life on February 9, 2004, at Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA.
