Martha Elizabeth [Pence] Henry Griswold
June 10, 1919 ~ October 24, 2009


Funeral service for Martha Henry Griswold, age 90 of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kim Hayes will officiate.

Martha was born the daughter of Darley Aaron Pence and Anna M. Dobyns Pence on June 10, 1919, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. She died on October 24, 2009, in Eufaula, Oklahoma.

She was married to Russell Henry who preceded her in death in 1969, and later married Leon Griswold who also preceded her in death.

Martha moved to Chickasha in 1931 and lived most of her life in Chickasha.

She was active in Rebecca Lodge and in the cub scouts serving as a den mother when her children were small. Martha was a volunteer for Unicef. She worked as a caregiver taking care of people at home and had worked at Hicks Western Wear. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Don Preston Henry and Glen Arthur Henry, two brothers, Arthur and Earl Pence, and two sisters, Mary Tuck, and Charlotte Pence. Survivors include; 2 sons and daughter-in-laws; one sister; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Service will be under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

Funeral service for Bessie L. Henry, 76, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2003, in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.

Bessie L. Henry was born December 2, 1926, in Walters Oklahoma, the daughter of Beulah Fletcher DeHart and died Thursday, July 31, 2003, in Chickasha.

Bessie moved to Chickasha in 1942. She met and married John Alvin Henry February 8, 1943. She worked for Arvin-Meritor and retired in 1991.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, John Henry, July 14, 1998, 1 daughter, Carol Brooks; great grandson, Austin Kallstrom.

Survivors include: 2 daughters: Sharon Pool of Chickasha, Geraldine Hughes of Chickasha; 1 son: Randy Henry of Chickasha; brother-in-law: George Montgomery of Roswell, New Mexico; son-in-law: Billy Brooks of Chickasha; 13 grandchildren: Donya and Scott Shaffer, Donald Wayne Simer, Jr., Jackie and Wayne Jackson, John Robert Simer, Christina Harrah, Kathy and Brian Winn, Renee and John Robbins, Aaron Scott Brooks, Angie and Dave Freeman, Beverly Hughes; 18 great grandchildren; special friends: Bob and Sue Kidd of Vinita, Oklahoma.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
