Robert Eugene "Bob" Collins
June 30, 1949 ~ April 19, 2023

Robert “Bob” Eugene Collins was born to Carolyn Jean Strine Collins and James Paul Collins in Trenton, MO, on June 30, 1949, the second born out of eleven children.

From an early age, Bob was a hard worker and cared deeply for his family. He started working odd jobs at the early age of 9 years old. His mom would talk about how hard he worked shoveling snow for money and working on a farm.

At the age of 17 he met the love of his life Linda in Medicine Lodge, KS. After meeting her, he told his brother, Jim, that he was going to marry her.

Within a year of meeting Linda, Bob enlisted in the Navy. He served as a fireman on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt. They sailed the Mediterranean Sea during their time.

He left the Navy in 1969 and returned home to marry Linda. They married on November 28th, 1969, just short of three weeks after he returned home.

Their first born, Elizabeth Ann, was born August 13th, 1971, in Great Bend, KS. Bob was so excited to become a father to a little girl that he drove from the hospital in Great Bend, KS to pick up his mom in El Dorado, KS and bring her back to the hospital to show off his baby.

Through the years Bob loved to take his daughter for adventures, sometimes getting him in trouble with Linda, teaching her what he knew in carpentry and mechanics, attending her concerts and plays, and watching her become a mother.

Soon after the birth of their daughter, Bob and Linda moved to Des Moines, IA where Bob went to work for Witt & Jukette Construction building nursing homes. He enjoyed being able to bring Linda and Elizabeth to work with him during his time there.

Just 17 months after the birth of Elizabeth, their son, Robert “Bobby” James was born, in Des Moines, IA. Bobby was born at 10lbs 3 1/2oz and Bob was so proud that he had to make sure everyone knew that he had the biggest baby in the nursery. Bobby tragically passed away two years later in Oelwein, Iowa. He was laid to rest in Stafford, Kansas.

For eleven years, the family moved across Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri with Bob's job until relocating to Oklahoma to be closer to family.

Bob went to work in the oilfield first as a motor man and was promoted to relief driller. He worked on three oil rigs before going back to construction for a while. He then went to work for Flint Engineering where he broke his back and retired.

They bought ten acres in Cement, OK in 1987 where they built their house later in 1998. They spent their time together in Cement fishing, gardening, raising many fur babies, and watching their daughter and grandchildren grow

In his retirement, Bob enjoyed working in the greenhouse, the fruit stand, carpentry, going to the casino, and traveling when able. His favorite trip being when he was able to go to Vegas with his mom and dad where his dad won $1200 as soon as they got there, and his mom finally got to see a palm tree.

Bob was a proud grandfather of seven, and great grandfather of three. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many orchestra concerts, choir concerts, and other activities. He loved to brag to anyone that would listen about all of his grandchildren and their many accomplishments.

He died at age 73 of a cardiac event on April 19th, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his brother Steven Collins, his son Bobby James Collins, his granddaughter Amanda LeeAnn Collins, his father James Paul Collins, his mother Carolyn Jean Collins, his sister Connie Seyler, and his nephew Steve Anstaett.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda Collins of Del City, OK; Daughter Elizabeth Morton and her husband David of Moore, OK and their children, Cadey Travis and her husband Nick and their children Leeam and Ryker of El Reno, OK, Michael Vaughn and his daughter Lyndsee of Chickasha, OK, Kevin Vaughn Jr and his husband Devin of Del City, OK, Sierra Vaughn and her fiancé Connor Maytes of Del City, OK, Markie Morton of Norman, OK, Kirstie Morton of Cement, OK, and Haillie Morton of Chickasha, OK; his brother James Collins and his wife Diane of Phoenix, AZ; His Brother Donnie Collins; his brother David Collins and his wife Marilyn of Knoxville, TN; his sister Debbie Rice of Winfield, KS; his sister Paula Anstaett and her husband Tom of Winfield, KS; his brother Ronnie Collins of Winfield, KS; his sister Sandra Chavez of Winfield, KS; his sister Susan Collins of Oklahoma City, OK; and many loved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor the life of Robert will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel (100 N. Barker El Reno, OK 73036).
