Rena L. [Murphy] Brown
December 30, 1931 ~ July 6, 2005

Funeral services for Rena L. Brown, 73, of Chickasha, will be held Monday, July 11, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Kim Domnick officiating and Johnny Wray, assisting.

Rena L. Murphy was born December 30, 1931, in Ada, Oklahoma, the daughter of T. C. Murphy and Emma Jean (Miller) Murphy. She died Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at her home in Chickasha, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rena moved to Clinton, Oklahoma in 1942. She attended Clinton public schools and graduated from Clinton High School in 1950.

After graduating high school, she came to Chickasha, where she attended OCW, now USDAO, and graduated in 1957, with a Fine Arts Degree.

Rena married Charles Brown on September 7, 1957, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They were married for 47 years and 10 months.

She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a life long Baptist.

Rena and her husband Charlie opened the Charlie Brown Auction Company in 1961, and in 1972, they opened the OK Cow Sales. She was co-owner of both businesses and clerk for both companies, as well as being a full time and devoted mother to her two children.

Rena graciously gave her time and attention to family and friends with great love, compassion and insightfulness. In her later years, she especially devoted herself to the care of her parents and grandson with special needs. Throughout her life and final moments, Rena shared her wonderful smile and sense of humor. Her life was an inspiration of love as beautiful and tenderly cared for as her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Toga Charles and Emma Jean Murphy.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Brown of the home, son and daughter-in-law: Jon and Shelli Brown, of Alex, Oklahomal; daughter, Kim Green, of Blanchard, Oklahoma; three grandchildren: Brandon Green, of Blanchard, Oklahoma Nicole and Kristin Brown, of Alex, Oklahoma; one brother, Pat Murphy, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; and one brother-in-law, Howard Brown, of Longmont, Colorado.

The casket will be open at the funeral home but will be closed for the services.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes for memorial contributions to be made to The Athletes of Grady County c/o Amber Pocasset Schools: PO Box 38, Amber, Oklahoma 73004, for persons with disabilities in Grady County to participate in Special Olympics of Oklahoma.

In these days of mourning it gives us a chance to look at our life, put forth a positive attitude and increase a daily effort to our fellow man.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
