Irene Ruth [Albers] McComas
March 13, 1920 ~ August 21, 2006

Irene Ruth [Albers] McComas, age 86, died Monday August 21, 2006 in a Chickasha health care facility after a period of declining health. She was born March 13, 1920 in Union City to Henry F. and Minnie Messinger Albers. She grew up in Union City and was a 1938 graduate of Union City High School. After high school she attended business college and worked as a bookkeeper at Mustang Field in El Reno during the war.

She and Garvin were united in marriage on December 29, 1945 after Garvin served his country in the US Navy and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.

Their first home after marriage was on a farm west of Pocasset, then they lived in the Verden area where they farmed and ran a dairy and finally in Minco where they presently reside.

Irene was a member of Minco United Methodist Church and known as an excellent cook. Many family members will miss her having them over for Thanksgiving dinner. She will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt and sister-in-law.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Minnie Mae Fedderson, Anna Hardesty, Catherine Priebe, Margaret Fuhring, Marie Mannschreck, three brothers Bill, Henry and Fred Albers.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Garvin of the home; one brother Tony Albers and his wife Evelyn of Union City; several nieces, nephews, and a special nephew, Ronald Albers who has been expecially helpful to her in these last years.

The family requests donations be made to Heartland Hospice in care of the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2006 in the Minco United Methodist Church with interment following in Evergreen Cemetery, Minco, OK under the direction of McNeil's Mustang Funeral Service, Mustang, Oklahoma.
