Edward Wayne "Eddie" Critchfield
October 10, 1936 ~ August 17, 2009


Services for Edward Wayne "Eddie" Critchfield, 72, of Minco, were held on Friday, August 21, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Minco.

Edward Wayne "Eddie" Critchfield was born October 10, 1936 in Oklahoma City to Roy Findley and Blanche Estell [Kerne] Critchfiend. He died Monday, August 17, 2009 at his home in Minco.

Raised in the Oklahoma City area, Critchfield was a bi-vocational minister, who worked for Fleming Company for 20 years, starting as a teenager, working his way up to driver.

He married Barbara Satterlee on January 18, 1958 in Oklahoma City and went to work as a mechanic for CMI for 24 years.

During that time he started ministering, starting as an Assistant Pastor at Plainview in Oklahoma City, then going to Gracemont, Warwick, Fonchel in Oklahoma City, University Heights in Oklahoma City, and Canaan Baptist Church northwest of Minco in 1970. He moved to the Minco area in 1973 from Oklahoma City, where he made his permanent residence.

He stayed at Canaan Baptist until 2000, then went on to be Assistant Pastor at the First Baptist Church in Minco for a year and a half and then went to Southern Heights Baptist Church in El Reno until his health failed.

He underwent a successful heart transplant in October of 1997 but fell ill to a stroke in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Bradley Hacker in 1981, son-in-law Jody Hacker in 1987, sister Sharon Critchfield in 2007 and brother David Critchfield in 2009.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara, of the home in Minco, three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Cheryl Critchfield of Chickasha, Mike and Shelley Critchfield of Mustang and Ernie and Tammy Critchfield of Chickasha, two daughters and sons-in-law Laurie Hacker and James Crooks of Minco and Marsha and Waylon King of Minco, two brothers and a sister-in-law Roy and Martha Critchfield of Troupe, Texas and Phillip Critchfield of Oklahoma City, 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Minco under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco, with Mike Critchfield officiating.
