Oliver H. Cox
January 1, 1879 ~ July 12, 1966

Funeral service for Oliver H. Cox, 87, a pioneer Minco and Grady County resident, will be at 10:30 am Thursday in the Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Home in Minco with Rev. Clarence Hunter officiating. Mrs. Cox died at 3:15 pm Tuesday in Grady Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born January 1, 1879, in Wichita, Kan., and spent most of his childhood in Missouri before moving to Grady County with his father at the age of eight years.

Later he returned to Missouri but moved to Grady County at the age of 15 and has lived here ever since.

He was married on Oct. 18, 1905, in Chickasha to the former Miss Myrtle Lee Washam. They farmed northwest of Pocasset and later moved southwest of Minco until his retirement in 1958 when they moved into Minco. Mrs. Cox preceded her husband in death in March, 1961. One son, Lonnie Cox preceded him in death in January, 1952.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Hayward Walker, Chickasha, and Mrs. Johnie Crow, Minco; one son, Orlie H. Cox, Fountain, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Eli Sanders, Minco; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Minco Evergreen Cemetery.
