William Joseph Stewart
April 1, 1929 ~ June 16, 2007


Funeral service for William Joseph Stewart, age 78, of Amber, Oklahoma will be held 1:30 pm Tuesday June 19, 2007 at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha.

William Joseph Stewart was born April 1, 1929 in Borger, Texas. He was the son of Edgar M. and Hannah Frances [Axtell] Stewart. Mr. Stewart died Saturday June 16, 2007 in Norman.

He had attended Cameron University in Lawton on a basketball scholarship.

He and Patricia M. Wood were married January 9, 1949. They were married for over 57 years.

He had lived in the Amber area for 40 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He had worked for Mobil Oil and Unit petroleum. He owned and operated Stewart and Sons Farms in the Amber Community and W.S. Consultant Company with clients including Chesapeake Oil and Marshall Oil Companies. He also owned and operated Slims Forklift in Amber.

He was a member of the North Side Church of Christ were he served as a Deacon.

His parents, one sister Judith Proctor and infant daughter Carolyn Sue Stewart preceded him in death.

Survivors include: His wife: Patricia Stewart of the home in Amber; daughter: Barbara Ann Kennedy of Amber; son: William David Stewart of Amber; son-in-law: Rodney Marshall Kennedy of Austin, Texas; grandchildren: William Robert Stewart and his wife Hollie of the home in Amber; William Emmon-Rall Stewart of Okla City; Max Ian Edward Stewart of Chickasha; Matthew Marshall S. Kennedy of Austin, Texas; and Janice Seay of Okla. City; great-grandchildren: Alexandria Gabrielle Stewart of Amber; and Allison Grace Stewart of Amber. Three brothers: Edgar Stewart and wife Mary Lou of Lousiana; Jimmy Stewart and wife Laura of Ryan, Oklahoma; Kenneth Stewart and wife Sue of Amber.

Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery, Amber, Oklahoma under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
