Funeral service for Thurman Elza Slaton, 77, of Chickasha, OK will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November, 21, 2018 in the McRay Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Kim Hayes will officiate.

Thurman Elza Slaton was born the son of Jack and Mary Slaton on November 17, 1940 in Bray, OK. He died on November 16, 2018 in Chickasha.

Thurman grew up in Chickasha. He served in the National Guard and after he was honorably discharged he went to work for the railroad for a short time. He then worked in the oilfield as a driller for 25 years. Thurman and Carolyn Hannah were married on August 14, 1965 in Amber and were married for 53 years. He and his family lived in many places as they followed his work in the oilfield, but they always kept their house in Chickasha, which they still call home.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary Slaton; sister Jackie Durand and long-time oilfield coworker Dennis Nagell.

Thurman is survived by his wife Carolyn Slaton; son and wife Russell and Tracy Slaton; son and wife DeWayne and Betty Slaton; daughter and husband Kathy and Scott LeDoux; daughter and husband Tammie and Roman Cajero; grandchildren Mallory and Natalie LeDoux; grandchildren Chance, Paige, and Jonah Bennett; granddaughter and husband Jennifer and Donald Jones; grandson and wife Brandon and Stacie Slaton; granddaughter and husband Hannah and Aaron Vardasebi; grandson Brett Slaton; great-grandchildren Tavion and Kemiah Slaton; Kennedy Slaton and Aldren Browning; sisters Minnie Bean and Martha Malone; long-time oilfield coworker Travis Kinard.

Interment will be in the Amber Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home. Source: McRays Funeral Home
