Lola "Laverne" [Clark] Russell
January 13, 1936 ~ November 1, 2020


Graveside services for Lola "Laverne" Russell, 84, formerly of Pocasset, will be held in the Amber Cemetery.

Lola "Laverne" [Clark] Russell was born January 13, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Elmer and Selma [Robinson] Clark. She passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Laverne grew up in Wewoka, Oklahoma and after graduating high school she worked for Southwestern Bell for several years.

On August 8, 1959, she married Lynn "Sonny" Russell in Ada, Oklahoma and they were married almost 60 years.

Laverne and Sonny were co-founders of Able Uniform Rentals in Oklahoma City with Alvin and Mary Russell. In 1983, they sold out, retiring to operate the family farm in Pocasset. Her favorite pastimes were going to the casino and watching the Thunder play.

Laverne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Amber for many years. She really loved her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both parents and her sisters, Nadine Mulkey and Louetta Parks.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Catherine Russell of Edmond; daughter, Cindy Nordyke of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Tori Russell, Hayley Russell and Madison Nordyke; sister, Linda Green; brother, Preston Clark; and other extended family and friends.

Services will be in Amber Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.

Masks and social distancing are requested.
