William D. "Bill" Gitthens
August 7, 1900 ~ March 21, 1966


William D. "Bill" Gitthens, 65, Route 2, Chickasha, died at 11:45 p.m. Monday in Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug 7, 1900 in Liberty, Mo. He moved to Oklahoma in 1908 from Missouri with his parents and settled at Tuttle, later moving to the Amber community.

He has made his home in Chickasha for the past 35 years.

He has been a farmer and rancher for over 30 years and also served three terms as county commissioner.

He later served as state highway maintenance supervisor for three years.

He has been in failing health for the past five years.

He married Gladys Morris in Chickasha on Dec. 23, 1924.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys of the home; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter; three brothers, Herbert Gitthens, Oakdale, Calif., Riley Gitthens, Oklahoma City, Buck Gitthens, Oklahoma City; four sisters, Mrs. Grace Garrett, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Rena LaGrange, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Thelma Mann, Pasco, Wash., Mrs. Eula Faye Smart, Duncan.

Interment will be in Amber Cemetery under the direction of Sevier's Funeral Home.
