Nola Rosetta [Fleming] McKee
September 13, 1929 ~ June 20, 2020

Funeral services for Nola Rosetta [Fleming] McKee, 90, of Alex will be held in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Nola Rosetta [Fleming] McKee was born on September 13, 1929 in Middleberg, Oklahoma. She was the fifth child of eleven born to Elvin Clyde Fleming and Sarah Belle [Goodin] Fleming.

Rosetta attended Buffalo, Dibble, and Bradley schools. In 1945, she met a handsome soldier. She married Sgt. Clyde Frank McKee on Christmas Day.

The couple had two children, Shirley and Bernita. They raised them in Del City and they were very active in the Carter Park Church. Rosetta was a homemaker until 1963. Education was very important to her, so she started attending high school at Crooked Oak in Oklahoma City with her daughter, Shirley. She was so popular with the students they voted her Annual Queen.

After graduation, she was the high school principal’s secretary and substituted. She then started attending Oscar Rose Jr. College with her daughter, Bernita. Rosetta went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Central State College in 1974.

The couple then moved to their farm in Calvin, Oklahoma. She taught English in Hartshorne and Stuart for a few years, then returned to college at East Central in Ada and earned her Master’s Degree in Sociology.

Clyde and Rosetta moved to Alex in 1992. Clyde passed away in 1999, so to fill the void in her life, she traveled. She rode in the semi-truck with her grandson, Brandon; took a trip to Japan with her niece, Malena; and visited her siblings in California.

In April of 2000, Rosetta and long-time family friend, Bill Palmer started dating and their friendship continued until his passing in 2016.

Rosetta was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2010. As her disease progressed, Lifeline Home Health Care came in and several caregivers helped her daughters care for her. With the help of Marjann, Dallas and Barbara, Rosetta was able to remain in her home until her passing. She went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; her grandson, Kyle; and all her siblings, Leroy, Naomi, Mary, Bernee, Lena, Lowell, E.C., Durella, Gilbert and Carolee.

Interment will be in Alex Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
