Don Campbell, age 77 of Purcell, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Norman Regional Healthplex.

Donald Gene Campbell was born October 8, 1941 in Wynnewood, OK, the oldest of 4 children born to H.E. “Hotshot” and Charlene Campbell. He was raised in Wynnewood and attended school there, graduating in 1960. With a group of his best friends.

Don joined the United States Navy and served his country proudly.

Just a couple of years later, on August 1, 1962, Don married his best friend and life partner, Barbara Ann Dodson in Gainesville, TX. They made their home primarily in Okla. City, where together they raised two children; son, Kenny and daughter, Tammy.

Don worked in the oil field for a short time. He then began working in the trucking industry as a mechanic. Throughout the years he worked for Freightliner and later BFI, retiring as the maintenance manager. When not working, Don spent most of his time camping with his family at the lake. He and Barbara later purchased their own place at Cedar Blue near Sulphur, and on occasion, they would slip off for a weekend in Branson. In 1996, they moved to Purcell and have called it home ever since. Don was a man of great faith and he loved the Lord. He was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell. Don was good friend; a wonderful husband and father, grandfather and brother, and he will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His parents, H.E. “Hotshot” and Charlene Campbell and Two brothers, Leonard and Harold “Eddie” Campbell.

Don is survived by: His wife, Barbara Campbell of the home; Son, Kenny Campbell and wife Tracy of Lexington and Daughter, Tammy Campbell of Lexington; Two grandchildren, Nicholas Campbell of Purcell and Kimberlea Campbell of El Reno; Brother, Gary Campbell and wife Sharon Kay of Sulphur and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Union Hill Baptist Church west of Purcell. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Wynnewood Cemetery in Wynnewood.
