August 25, 1942 ~ May 22, 2015


Rush Springs: Loyd Ray Wright, 72, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at his home in Cox City.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Lindsay, with Rev. Randy Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Purdy Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, OK.

Loyd was born Tuesday, August 25, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Madison and Anna [Condit] Wright. Loyd lived most of his live in the Doyle Community and graduated from Doyle High School. He married Lue Alva Blades on December 6, 1961 in Rush Springs and they moved to Cox City in 1962. He worked most of his life in the oilfields and was working for Weatherford as a Fishing Tool Operator. Loyd was a people person and could often be found hugging and kissing someone, and enjoyed joking with his friends, lending a helping hand when he could and even enjoyed passing out Jolley Ranchers candy to friends, family and even strangers. If you knew Loyd, you knew about his family because he would always brag on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether you wanted to know about them or not. He was an ordained minister and had even performed several weddings. Loyd was a man who enjoyed people and the simple things in life. He loved to leave people with a smile and will be remembered for his many sayings, including, "If I was any better, I'd be twins".

Survivors include, wife, Lou Alva Wright of Rush Springs, OK, son, Jodie Wright and wife Marla of Lindsay, son, Jeffrey Wright and wife Tracy of Stillwater, daughter, Sherri Maxwell and husband David of Marlow, daughter, Sharla Marcum and husband Dwight of Lindsay, daughter, Sheila Holden and husband Michael of Lindsay, granddaughter, Ashlie Magby and husband Gene, grandson, AlanMaxwell and wife Brittany, granddaughter, Amber Wright, grandson, Cody Wright, grandson, Tucker Holden, grandson, Gentry Jack Holden, grandson, Jake Marcum, grandson, Kyle Marcum, granddaughter, Kaylee Marcum, granddaughter, Kennedy Wright, great-grandson, Aubrie Magby, great-granddaughter, Allie Magby, brother, Floyd Wright and wife Virginia of Foster, sister, Kathryn McWhorter and husband Doyle of Carrollton, TX, Sister-in-Law, Bobbie McCaslin and husband Ron of Bray, Sister-in-Law, Sharon Wright of Lindsay, OK, Numerous Nieces and Nephews, Cousins and Friends. he was preceded in death by brother, Philmore Wright, brother, Milton Wayne Wright.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 24, 2015, 1:00 pm - 8:30 pm and the family will be receiving visitors on Monday, May 25, 2015, from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be: Cody Wright, Tucker Holden, Gentry Jack Holden, Jake Marcum, Kyle Marcum, David Maxwell, Michael Holden, Dwight Marcum, Gene Magby, Alan Maxwell
