Troy Lee Wilson
May 17, 1931 ~ November 24, 2017


Troy Lee Wilson, of Purcell, passed away November 24, 2017 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.

Troy was born May 17, 1931 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to James Edward and Linnie [Danner] Wilson. He was raised in the Garvin County area and moved away upon joining the U. S. Army in 1950. On May of 1954, he and Wanda June Southwell were married in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

He retired from the U. S. Army after serving for 25 years and earning the rank of Sergeant First Class. Troy was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While serving in the Army and being stationed in Alaska he served as a Mountain Climber and Ski Instructor at the Northern Warfare Training Center. He also served in Ft. Hood and in Colorado. His love for the outdoors has been very evident in his service and tour of duty and also include hunting and fishing. Troy was a member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Purcell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Linnie Wilson; 5 brothers, Claud Wilson, J. C. Henderson, Harlen Wilson, Haysen Henderson, and Gale Wilson; and his sister, Margaret.

Surviving family include his wife of over 63 years, Wanda Wilson of the home; children, David Lee Wilson and wife, Andrea, of Sulphur; Charlotte Ann Miller and husband, Gary, of Lawton; Crystal Lynne Meyers and husband, Ed, of Paoli; and Jessie Lee Williams; two grandchildren, Troy Miller and Michael Miller; six great grandchildren, Makayla, Jesse, Kira, Kianna, Kyden, and Lenni; one brother, Eddie Wilson of Carnegie; three sisters, Pat Spencer of Wynnewood, Catherine Nix of Moore, and Juanita Zellner of Norman; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation is scheduled for Family and Friends to gather on Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Paoli Cemetery. Interment will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
