William Scott Seymour
February 2, 1924 ~ February 10, 2005


Services for Wm. Scott Seymour, 81, Ada, are 2 p.m. Monday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home, the Rev. Roger Roundsville officiating. Burial follows at Paoli Cemetery, Paoli, Okla.

Mr. Seymour died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1924, at Wynnewood to Ed and Maude Patterson Seymour.

He attended Wynnewood Schools and retired in 1977 from Bond Baking Company in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Seymour was a member of Byng Assembly of God Church, and worked at Byng School in the bus maintenance department. He served in the U.S. Army War Dog detachment during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star.

He married Mary E. Sterling June 7, 1943, at Pauls Valley.

He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Seymour, his parents, Ed and Maude Seymour, and a sister, Dorothy Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Seymour, of the home; two daughters, Shirley Owens and her husband Ronnie, Ada, and Karen Thompson and her husband Danny, Newalla; two brothers, Bob Seymour and Tex Seymour, both of Ada; three sisters, Tressie Zumsteg, Oklahoma City, and Essie Beller and Betty Eslick, both of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His grandsons will serve as bearers.
