Harold J. "Sonny" Owens
August 20, 1926 ~ November 13, 2012


H. J. 'Sonny' Owens entered this life on August 20, 1926 in Lindsay, Oklahoma the first of three children born to H. B. and Ethel Owens. He passed away November 13, 2012 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.

He and Juanita Story were married in Gainesville, Texas on July 1, 1946. They resided in Levelland, Texas for some time before returning to make Paoli their home.

He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church.

Sonny was a truck driver, a land construction worker and in later years tended his cows and farmed.

He was preceded in death by a younger brother, his father and mother, who lived to be 102; and two great grandchildren.

Sonny is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Juanita Owens, three children, Linda Ivie, of Moore; Donnie and Neva Owens, of Pauls Valley; and Ronda and Rex Lovin, of Salina, Kansas; four grandchildren, Terri Landry, Dalinda Ivie, Chris Owens, and Lance Martin, two step grandchildren, Scott and Kevin Sanders, six great grandchildren, one sister, Charlene Peikert, of Grand Prairie, Texas; one brother in law, Edward Story, of Wayne; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Washita Valley Living Center for taking care of Sonny over the years and to David and Linda Coffey for the beautiful service and kind words.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Paoli United Pentecostal Church officiated by Rev. Terry Erwin.

Interment will be at Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
