Nina Elizabeth [McMahan] Mayes
July 28, 1935 ~ September 8, 2013


Nina Elizabeth Mayes of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma was born to Tom Neil and Amie Lee [Williams] McMahan on July 28, 1935 in Maysville, Oklahoma and passed from this life on September 8, 2013 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years.

Nina's father died when she was young. At age 16, she moved to Texas to work to help support her mother in Paoli. She picked cotton in her younger years and later worked as a butcher and nurses aide.

In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and spending time with her grandkids. The highlight of her life was time spent caring for her mother and sister in her last years.

Nina was a devout Christian. Telling her children about Jesus was her most important goal in life and to see her family saved.

Mrs. Mayes is survived by:
Son: James Phillip Mayes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
3 Daughters: JoAnn Green of Washington, Oklahoma
Louise Frasier of Las Vegas, Nevada
Michelle Mayes of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma
Brother: Bobby McMahan of Washington, Oklahoma
2 sisters: Frona Lue McMahan of Wynnewood, Oklahoma
Jocie McMahan of Moore, Oklahoma
8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren

Mrs. Mayes was preceded in death by:
Her husband: Harding Warren Mayes
Parents: Tom and Amie McMahan
Brother: R. T. McMahan

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ledbetter officiating.

Interment will be in the Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
