Richard Dale Hilburn
March 17, 1929 ~ June 4, 2012


Richard Dale Hilburn of Paoli, Oklahoma was born on March 17, 1929 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Brady Marlin and Bonnie Wynonna [Miner] Hilburn. Mr. Hilburn passed from this life on June 4, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years.

Dale grew up and attended school in Red Oak, Oklahoma where he graduated from Red Oak High School. He attended two years of college at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Dale spent many years working in the oil field and later as a life & health insurance agent. He and Betty Kissire were married on October 2, 1965 in Paoli, Oklahoma. They enjoyed spending time together travelling in their Georgia Boy RV with other Georgia Boy RV owners.

Dale was a member of the First Baptist Church in Paoli, served many years on the Paoli School Board and was active with the Senior Citizen Center in Paoli.

He loved to fish and was very talented in his woodworking skills.

The highlight of his life was his family.

Mr. Hilburn is survived by: Wife: Betty Hilburn of the home Son: Dwayne Wardwell and his wife Sheila of Paoli, Oklahoma Daughter: Darlene Duncan and her husband Gerald of Ada, Oklahoma Brother: Larry Hilburn and his wife Peggy of Yuma, Arizona 10 Grandchildren: Richard Dale Hilburn Jr., Mandy Hilburn, Shelby Hilburn, Ashley Hilburn, Brian Hilburn, Buddy Hilburn, Mikah Hilburn, Aaron Wardwell, Suzannah Delaplain and John Duncan. Numerous great-grandchildren.

Preceeded in death by: Parents: Brady Marlin Hilburn and Bonnie Hilburn Sons: Jimmy Dale Hilburn & Rickey David Hilburn Brothers: Walter Hilburn & Marlin Hilburn 2 Sisters.

Betty Jo [Kissire] Wardwell Hilburn
July 9, 1929 ~ March 28, 2014


Betty Jo Hilburn of Paoli, Oklahoma was born to Lloyd and Mae [Bradburn] Kissire on July 9, 1929 in Stroud, Oklahoma and passed from this life on March 28, 2014 in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years.

Betty grew up in the Blanton View area and attended school in Paoli, Oklahoma.

She married Billy E. Wardwell in April of 1946 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. On October 2, 1951, Betty married Dale Hilburn in Wilburton, Oklahoma.

Betty worked as a restaurant manager and worked along side Dale in insurance sales.

She was a member of Women's Bowling League. In her spare time she enjoyed sports, and any activities her children and grandchildren were involved. She loved to fish and spend time with her family. The most important thing she taught others about life was the "Win-Learn" method: "Lose" not being an option - the smallest thing learned was a win, no matter the final results.

Son: Dewayne Wardwell and wife Sheila of Paoli, Oklahoma
Daughter: Darlene Duncan and husband Gerald of Asher, Oklahoma
Sister: Geraldine Satterfield of Palo Verta, California
Grandchildren: Aaron and Sandra Wardwell of Paoli, Oklahoma
Robby and Suzannah Delaplain of Paoli, Oklahoma
Johnny and Ann Duncan of Moore, Oklahoma
5 great-grandchildren

Mrs. Hilburn was preceded in death by:
Her Husbands: Billy E. Wardwell and Dale Hilburn
Parents: Lloyd and Mae Kissire

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 3, 2014 in the Paoli First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
