Opal Almeda [Thrasher] Gross
March 25, 1918 ~ February 26, 2011


Opal Almeda Gross of Pauls Valley was born March 25, 1918 in Dolph, Arkansas to Mary and James M. Thrasher. She passed away February 26, 2011 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years.

Opal was married to Bill Gross in 1950. She was a Cottage Supervisor at the Pauls Valley State School for 25 years. In 1983 she retired to take care of her grandchildren. Opal was a member of the Paoli Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; 2 children, Donna Goff and Jerry Ward; 1 grandson, Jerry Dale Ward; and 1 great-grandson, Colt Sutton.

Surviving family include her daughter-in-law, Jo Ann and Trey Lam of Pauls Valley; her daughter, Sammie Gross Bennett and husband Bob of Vinita; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Richardson of Antioch; and brother, Jake W. Thrasher of Kingston.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Paoli Cemetery officiated by Rev. Terry Erwin and Rev. Kay Karen Kennedy.

Services for cremation are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
