Fred Marshall Ezell
September 2, 1912 ~ June 25, 2012

Fred Marshall Ezell, 99, of Norman, Oklahoma died peacefully at Holiday Heights Nursing Home, Norman, Ok., June 25, 2012. He was born in Paoli, Oklahoma on September 2, 1912, to James Thomas and Nellie Elizabeth Ezell.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012, at Paoli Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Chuck Samples, Rev. Terry Erwin and Chaplain Harry Smith. Interment will follow under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home in Pauls Valley.

Fred lived most of his life in Paoli, graduating from Paoli Public Schools in 1932.

He married the love of his life, Lyndall Lucille Whitaker, on December 11, 1937.

He retired from Texaco Oil Company in 1974, working as a roustabout and pumper.

He and Lyndall moved to Norman in 1992.

Fred was an avid fisherman and handgun enthusiast. He spent many hours fishing on the Washita River, Lake Texoma and various other lakes in southern Oklahoma and was always eager to share the many fish he caught with friends and neighbors in Paoli, He also spent many hours in his garden, collecting rocks, making bird houses and walking sticks which he enjoyed giving to family and friends.

Fred enjoyed being with people and drinking coffee with his "coffee drinking buddies" both in Paoli and Norman.

Fred was a faithful member of the Paoli Methodist Church and Goodrich United Methodist Church in Norman.

Preceding Fred in death was his wife, Lyndall, on February 16, 2011, his parents, James Thomas and Nellie Ezell, Two brothers, Hubert and John Ezell, and three sisters, Addie Ezell, Alpha Walker and Alta Hawkins.

He is survived by his two daughters, Judy Floyd and husband Glenn of Norman and Betty Yates and husband, Jerry of Sun Valley Lake, Ellston, Iowa; four grandchildren, Lynn Driver (Russ) of Norman, Keith Johnson (Lori) of Blanchard, Jeff Yates (Shelly) of Ankeny, Iowa, and Jay Yates (Chan) of Kennesaw, Georgia; three step grandchildren, Andy Floyd, Mark Floyd and Cynthia Floyd, all of Norman; eight great grandchildren, Cassie Yates, Krysten Yates, Gary Driver, Jordan Yates, Jenna Yates, Whitney Yates, Kristy Johnson and Marshal Yates; one great-great grandchild, Kaylan Snyder; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers are Danny Hawkins, Lynn Hawkins, Larry Hawkins, Keith Johnson, Jeff Yates, Jay Yates and Gary Driver. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Floyd, Jerry Yates, Russ Driver, Douglas Whitaker, Andy Floyd and Mark Floyd.

The family expresses their deepest appreciation for the loving caregivers at Holiday Heights Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Goodrich United Methodist Church, 200 W. Hayes St., Norman, Ok. 73069.
