G. W. "Dub" Brown
February 22, 1934 ~ October 24, 2008


G. W. "Dub" Brown of Pauls Valley was born February 22, 1934 in Centrahoma, Oklahoma to Tom and Sophia [Harper] Brown.

"Dub" grew up in Maysville where he attended school.

Dub served a tour of duty during the Korean War and is a veteran of United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Later he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and served for several years.

He was married to Jennie Gardner in Maysville, Oklahoma on August 15, 1958.

Dub owned and operated Dub's Auto Repairs for many years. He also served on the Pauls Valley City Council, was a Reserve Deputy with the Garvin County Sheriff's Office and has worked with his son, Terry, at T. Brown's Auto Sales for the past 10 years.

Pauls Valley has been his home for over 50 years. He was a member of the New Life United Pentecostal Church.

He passed away October 24, 2008 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters: Vera Stone, Mildred Hemenway, Billie Dehart and Leota Bailey.

Surviving family include his wife of over 50 years, Jennie, of the home; sons: Terry Brown and his wife Pam of Pauls Valley, and Greg Brown of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandchildren: Brandi Dismuke and her husband, Chris, of Pauls Valley, and Tyler Brown and his wife, Pam, serving in the U.S. Navy and stationed at Pointe MUGU Naval Base near Moorpark, California; one great-granddaughter, Alexia Ballard; two sisters, Patsy Lewis of Wayne and Betty Miller of Lindsay; five brothers: James Brown of Shawnee, Dale Brown of Sulphur, Buster Brown of Maysville, Benny Brown of Pauls Valley and Donnie Brown of Norman.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Stufflebean Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Robert Adams.

Interment will be at the Paoli Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
