Oakridge Cemetery
Garvin County, Oklahoma

July 24, 1919

Burrel Homer Christy
March 13, 1889 ~ July 17, 1919

The body of B. H. Christy was shipped to Davis from Henryetta Okla., and interred in the cemetery at Oak Ridge Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, fraternal services being held by the Woodmen of the World. One of the largest crowds ever seen at a funeral in this vicinity was in attendance.

Burl Horner Christy [sic] was 30 years of age and leaves a wife and four small children. He was a son-in-law of W. T. Black, who lives on the Chas. Stewart place near Davis, form which place the funeral cortege started.

For some time Mr. Christy has been living at Henryetta, Okla. Last Thursday he came in contact with a live wire in a mine, which caused his death. At the same time his brother received a shock from the same wire but succeeded in saving himself. The Christy family has experienced a number of sad accidents. In 1911 Mr. Christy had a brother killed in the mines west of Davis. Later his sister and grandmother were struck by a train, the sister being killed.

Mr. Christy formerly lived in this vicinity and was looked upon as a good man and had lots of friends. His tragic death is deeply deplored. He was a member of the Woodmen lodge at Henryetta and fraternal services were held by the Woodmen of Davis at the request of his home Camp.

Card of Thanks.

We the undersigned, take this method to thank our many friends for kindness shown us in the sad hour and death of our dear husband and father, brother and son.

Mrs. Bird Christy and Children.
J.R. Christy.
J.E. Christy.
Mrs. Susie Parsons.
Mrs. Ruth Wingo.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Black and children
