Joan P. Capps
August 16, 1928 ~ February 27, 2011


Joan P. Capps, of Pauls Valley was born August 16, 1928 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Carlton C. Scruggs and Susan "Ludie" Scruggs. She passed away February 27, 2011 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years.

Joan was married to Farley L. Capps in Wynnewood, Oklahoma on May 16, 1948. They had 3 children, Carol, Gary and Brent.

Joan was a homemaker and also worked with Farley at their dry cleaning business C & S Cleaners. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed reading and traveling.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and drove the church bus whenever needed.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Carlton and Susan Scruggs; her husband, Farley on April 11, 1991; her brother, Erslee Scruggs and her sister, Berniece Kennedy.

Surviving family include her 3 children, Carol & Terry Mullens, of Pauls Valley; Gary & Teresa Capps, of Norman; and Brent & Jason Zenobia, of Portland, Oregon; 4 grandchildren, Casey & her husband, Kyle Schmitz, Shelly & her husband, John Knight, Caitlin Capps and Sarah Capps, all of Norman.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood officiated by Dr. Joe Elam.

Interment will be under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.

The family request that donations be made to the library in memory of Joan Capps in lieu of flowers.
