Floris Lee [Edwards] Pickens
December 25, 1933 ~ January 1, 2015


Floris Lee Pickens, was born to the union of Evelyn Jackson-Edwards and Lige Edwards in Wynnewood, OK on December 25, 1933. She departed this life at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma on January 1, 2015, at the age of 81 years and one week.

Floris attended school in the Wynnewood area at Brown Springs School and in due course, Lincoln High School.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Wynnewood, and later in life she became a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Wynnewood.

Although she loved children, she was not blessed with any biological children of her own and reached out to children and people in general who were less fortunate than she.

Floris is survived by her son Quinzell Allen and [Becky] and Lisa Calhoun whom she loved, raised, and nurtured from birth to the present time. She was "Mama" to him [Quinzell] and "Grandma" to his children: April, Quinna, and Quinzell, Jr; and Great Grandma to their 15 great grandhcildren and she loved all of them dearly. She is also survived by three sisters: Lillie Faye Clark [Albert] of Fairfield, CA; Barbara Royal of Gainesville, TX; and Mary Brown [Robert] of Vallejo, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty plus years, Johnnie Pickens, as well as her mother, father, and five of her eight siblings.

Funeral services entrusted to DeArman Funeral Home of Wynnewood, OK, with Rev. Frank Washington officiating. Interment immediately following services at Oak Grove Cemetery east of Wynnewood.

Johnnie Glen Pickens
March 25, 1935 ~ January 17, 2011


Johnnie Glen Pickens, a resident of Wynnewood was born March 25, 1935 in Milo, Oklahoma to Ledonia and John Wesley Pickens. He passed away January 17, 2011 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years 9 months and 22 days.

He was married to Floris Lee [Edwards] Pickens at Gainesville, TX on January 6, 1961.

He worked for Standridge Tire.

He Grew up in Milo, OK before going to the US Navy on January 5, 1955 and serving until December 19, 1958. He then spent several years in the Army Reserve before settling in Wynnewood in 1967.

He was preceded in death by His parents and a Sister - Authur Nee Rolison.

Survived by his Wife - Floris Lee Pickens of the home.; Daughter - Alisa Calhoun of Oklahoma City, OK; Son - Quenzell Allen of Wynnewood, OK; 4 Brothers - Kerne Pickens of OKC, OK; Sherman Pickens of Wynnewood, OK; Herman Pickens of Fort Worth, TX; Charlie Wayne Pickens of South Carolina; 4 Sisters - Sammie Pickens of Marlow, OK; Enzerlean Newton of Phoenix, AZ; Louise Jackson of Ardmore, OK; Melvine Stevenson of Norman, OK; 12 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jewell Pickens, Randy Pickens, Roy Newton, Gary Pickens, Kevin Joe Johnson, and DeWayne Allen.

Services will be held Saturday January 22, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Wynnewood, OK. Burial follows at Oak Grove Cemetery East of Wynnewood.

Services under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Wynnewoood, OK.
