Rev George Vitruvus Vance
October 21, 1925 ~ September 23, 2013


Reverend George Vitruvus Vance age 87 passed Monday, September 23, 2013 surrounded by his loving family members at his Norman, Oklahoma residence.

Reverend George was born in the Fort Worth, Texas area on October 21, 1925 to Reverend A. C. Vance and Reba [Combs] Vance.

He was a licensed minister for the Church of God. He pastored several churches in Oklahoma during his lifetime. He served the Oklahoma Church of God as State Youth Director, District Pastor and State Council. He also was involved in Prison Fellowship and the Angel Tree program. He retired in 1996.

Reverend George was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend A.C. Vance and Reba, his four brothers, James Vance, Leroy Vance, Charles Vance and Samuel Vance.

He is survived by his wife, Susie, his daughter Suzanne Moorman of Norman, Oklahoma, his son Jonathan Vance and his wife, Mary of Muskogee, his sister Wanda McNatt of Binger, Reverend Donald Vance and his wife Lou Ann of Wellston, Reverend William Vance and his wife Linda of Skiatook, his sister Pat Frazier of Binger, Mary Teed and her husband Roger of Tulsa, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are: A Z Jackson, Kenneth Howard, Lee Byrd, Leon Schroder, R J Byrd and Todd Handley.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Lakeside Church of God, 4400 Alameda Street, Norman, Oklahoma.

Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Lakeside Church of God.Reverend Kenneth Adams, Pastor Brian Wade and Bishop Darrell Rice will officiate.

Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

Susie Berniece [Christy] Vance
April 1, 1929 ~ May 1, 2016


Susie Berniece Vance, 87, of Norman passed away Sunday, May 1st, 2016. She was born April 1st, 1929 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to John Christy & Maggie [Weatherford] Christy.

Susie grew up in Oklahoma, and worked as a pastor's wife, teacher, and social worker. She hosted numerous families in her home and was known for her excellent cooking and baking. She enjoyed Southern Gospel music, spending time with her family and people watching.

Susie was a devoted member of Lakeside Church of God in Norman, Ok. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George V. Vance, two daughters: Glenda Fay and Brenda Kaye, and two half-brothers: Calvin Pickens and Toland Pickens.

Survivors include: Her daughter, Linda Suzanne Moorman, her son, Jonathan David Vance & wife Mary. Her grandsons, Jeremy Stockton and wife Lisa, Jonathan Lee Vance, Benjamin Vance, Ty Moorman and Cody Moorman. Her granddaughters, Tara McHughes and husband John, and Ami Taylor. Numerous great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm, Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016 at Lakeside Church of God officiated by Pastor Kenneth Adams and Pastor Brian Wade, 4400 E. Alameda Street in Norman with interment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
