Judith L. [Jennings] Payne
December 10, 1937 ~ October 16, 2018


The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Judith L. Payne, 80, of Enid will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, October 21, 2018 in the Mount Olivet Cemetery Pavilion in Pauls Valley, OK. with Pastor Jon Slimack officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born December 10, 1937 in Pauls Valley to John Paul and Wanda B. Jennings and passed from this life on October 16, 2018 in Enid, OK.

She was raised and educated in Pauls Valley. She was the head cheerleader, homecoming queen at Pauls Valley High School, graduating in 1955. She then attended the University of Oklahoma and was a member of the Gamma Phi Betta Sorority house and met her future husband. She married Herbert Lewis Payne of Chattanooga, OK. in 1958, in Durant, OK. They lived in various places throughout the United States following Herbert’s career. In 1969, the couple purchased Mid-America Chemical which they ran together until 1975.

The family then moved to Chattanooga, OK. where they farmed and ranched. From that point forward she was a devoted farmer’s wife helping in every aspect of their operation. After her husband’s death, in 1987, she attended Cameron University continuing to pursue her education. In 1998 she moved to Enid to be near Polly. She attended Grace Bible Church and always enjoyed Bible Study meetings. She loved all animals and cherished her pets. No pet was ever luckier to be under her care. She was an avid reader, never missed her favorite soap operas and her cooking shows. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter, Polly Worrell and husband James of Miami, FL., Susan Hall and husband Michael of Edmond, son, Tom Payne of Enid, grandchildren, Chris and wife Jane Ann of Houston, TX., Matt of Houston, TX., and Will of Miami, Florida. Connor and wife Libbie of Guthrie, OK., and Carly of Edmond, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Enid SPCA with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
