James W. "Jim" Green
September 12, 1933 ~ May 2, 2015


Born to Gordon Miller "Pete" and Virginia Longmire Green.

He and his family moved to Ada in 1939 where he attended Washington grade school and graduated from Ada High School in 1951. He was awarded his B. A. and L. L. B. degrees by the University of Oklahoma in 1955 and 1960. At the University of Oklahoma, he was a member of the R. O. T. C. and rose to the rank of Captain.

He married Sandra Buchanan on August 27, 1960 in Hobart. Mr. Green served on the staff of the Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, Joe B. Hunt as Assistant Life Actuary from 1957 to 1961. He was Director, Actuarial Division and Vice-President of Old Security Life Insurance Company of Kansas City, MO from 1961 to 1970. In 1970, he moved his family back to Ada. He served as Vice-President, Special Marketing Division of the Home Security Life Insurance Company in Pauls Valley. In 1973, he founded American Federal Savings and Loan Association in Ada where he served as President and Director. In 1989 he served as Chairman of the Board of the Oklahoma League of Savings Institutions and as a Director and Vice-Chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka.

He was a member of the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations and the Legislative Committee of the U. S. League of Savings Associations. He was actively involved in civic and community interests. He previously served as president of both the Kiwanis Club of Ada and the Ada Growth and Development Corp. He was a director of the Pontotoc County Area Authority and a former director of the Ada Chamber of Commerce.

In 1992, he became a registered investment representative and opened an office in Ada for Stifel Nicolaus. In 1994 he became an Investment Representative for Edward Jones of Ada, retiring there in 1998.

He was an active member of the First Christian Church and served as an Elder, Past Moderator of the Board and Choir member.
