Cox, of Francis, a former longtime resident of Wynnewood, was born February 17, 1935 in Patoka, Illinois to James and Evelyn [Black] Cox. He passed away at his home on Friday, June 10, 2011 in Francis, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years. James was raised in Centralia, Illinois. He was married to Harlene June Atchison in Centralia, Illinois on May 15, 1954. James worked for SOHIO Petroleum Company and in 1963 he transferred to Oklahoma in his work for SOHIO and later moved to make Wynnewood his home for many years. He is retired from SOHIO where he worked as an Oil Field Company Man and retired from them after working 30 plus years. For the past 4 months he has been closer to his daughter living in Francis, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Cox; son, Michael Cox; stepbrother, Bob Carlisle and granddaughter, Tia Cox. His surviving family include his wife of 57 years, June Cox of the home; one daughter, Debra Knight of Francis; one son, Steve Cox of Ardmore; eleven grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 3:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Dr. Joe Elam. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Interment and professional services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |
© Stufflebean~Coffey Funeral Home Pauls Valley, Oklahoma Saturday, August 15, 2015 Harlene "June" [Atchison] Cox June 5, 1936 ~ August 15, 2015 June Cox, of Ada, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at home in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years. June Atchison was born June 5, 1936 in Centralia, Illinois to William Henry and Mae Marie [Hofatatter] Atchison. On May 15, 1954 she married James Franklin 'Jim' Cox in Centralia, Illinois. They later moved to the Pauls Valley area where she lived most of her life. She worked at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center [SORC] as well as at Glo-Light and Xenell. In her spare time she loved cooking with her husband and family; she also loved fishing and watching NASCAR with her husband. June was a member of Great Dimensions Church in Pauls Valley and for the past few years she has lived in the Ada area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mae and William Atchison; and her husband of 58 years, James F. "Jim" Cox; sisters, Peggy and Gracie; her son, Michael Cox and her granddaughter, Tia Dawn Cox. Surviving family include her daughter, Debbie Knight of Ada; her son, Steve Cox and his wife, Sherry, of Ardmore; one sister, Nina Quick of Illinois; one brother, Jerry Carpenter and his wife, Linda, of Texas; 10 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Pastor Rocky Walker. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home. |
