May 1, 1928 ~ July 2, 2015


A. B. Claxton Jr, of Norman, formerly a longtime resident of Pauls Valley, passed away July 2, 2015 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 87 years. A. B. was born May 1, 1928 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to A. B. Claxton Sr and Grace [May' Claxton.

He and Wilma Pitts were married in 1949 in Gainesville, Texas. In 1950 they moved to make Pauls Valley their home and to open a business in Wholesale Distributing and retired in 1992.

He attended the Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley.

In 1999, he and his wife, Wilma, moved to make their home in Norman where he attended the Bethel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, A. B. Claxton Sr; his mother, Grace [May] Claxton; and brother, Duone Claxton.

Surviving family include his wife of 67 years, Wilma, of the home; two children, Pamela Garrett of Kansas City, Missouri; and Sharon Chaufty and her husband, Bill, of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Cory Sullivan, April Lai, Gregg Grounds, and Dylan Chaufty; five great grandchildren, Mia Sullivan, Cooper Lai, Olivia Lai, Fisher Lai and Whit Lai; one sister, Alma Jean Brim of Oklahoma City; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 10:00 am at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Pavilion.
