Jackie Lee "Jack" Claunch
Jackie Lee Claunch was born October 8, 1938 ~ June 01, 2016


Jack Claunch, age 77 of Wayne, passed away Wednesday, June 01, 2016, at the Norman Regional Hospital.

Jackie Lee Claunch was born October 8, 1938, on the family farm near Wayne, OK. He was the oldest of 3 children born to Andy Claunch and Vernettie Belle [Farrow] Claunch.

He grew up on the farm, and attended Wayne Schools, graduating in 1957. While in high school, Jack was very active in the FFA and raised show pigs, and was once named State Master Farmer.

On June 26, 1959, in Pauls Valley, OK, Jack and Carleen Mitchell were united in marriage. They made their home in the Wayne area where together they raised 3 children, son, Darren and daughters, Linda and Sherri.

Jack worked in the automotive industry for many years. At one time, he owned and operated the NAPA Auto Parts in Purcell. He also worked as the automotive manager at T G &Y for many years, before opening, Jack's Windshield Repair, which he operated until his retirement.

When not working, Jack like to pal around with Uncle Gene, drinking coffee and talking to just about anyone who would listen.

He never missed an opportunity to go fishing and looked forward to family get togethers and the holidays so he could play 'moon'. Jack was an avid sports fan, and especially liked watching bull riding, the Thunder and anything OU.

Most recently, Jack has been a resident of Grace Living Center in Norman. While there, he volunteered as a greeter as his motto was "Make Someone Smile Today".

Jack was a wonderful father and grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed! He was preceded in death by: His wife, Carleen Claunch; Parents, Andy and Vernettie Claunch and A brother, Tommy Claunch.

Jack leaves behind: His son, Darren Claunch and wife Helen of Moore; Daughters, Linda Herrin and husband Mike of Washington and Sherri Merrell and husband Jerry of Purcell; Sister, Peggy Howeth and husband Joey of Purcell; 6 grandchildren, Jarrod Tarp and wife Jessica of Norman, Brooke Wilk and husband Tim of Washington, Grant Herrin and wife Blaike of Washington, Malinda Hillis of Guthrie, Amy Hyde and husband Bronson of Washington and Mackenzi Martin of Moore; 8 great grandchildren, Kayle, Lacy, Addison, Austin, Ava, Bristol, Ferrin and Gage; And a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
