Bonnie E. [McCutcheon Leake] Chandler
May 31, 1943 ~ January 15, 2015


Bonnie E. Chandler, of Celina, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on January 15, 2015. She was born May 31, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Bonnie was a graduate of Central State University with a degree in Education and was a retired elementary school teacher.

She married James M. Chandler on June 8, 1967 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. They spent 10 years in Mississippi where their two children, Stacey and Jonathan, were born. They moved to College Station, Texas where Mike was a Professor at Texas A & M University. They lived there for 30 years before retiring in 2012. Then they moved to Celina, Texas to be near their children and grandchildren.

Bonnie enjoyed reading the newspaper and Holocaust history novels. She also enjoyed traveling with Mike, working the daily crossword puzzles, collecting American Girl Dolls, shopping with Stacey and Emersyn on Saturdays, eating out, drinking Coke and eating green sugar-free Blue Bell popsicles.

She was preceded in death by her birth mother, Ethyl McCutcheon; her adopted parents, Vivian and Melvin Leake; her sister, Lorene Dennis; her brother-in-law, David Rice.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Mike; daughter, Stacey Moore; son, Jonathan Chandler; two grandchildren, Jaxxon and Emersyn Moore; sisters, Ruth Meyer, Peggy Rider and her husband, Ralph, Goldie Williams and her husband, Jimmie, and Joy Gilpin and her husband, Fred; her brother, Bobby Niece and his wife, Nancy; her sisters-in-law, Arlinda Hodges and her husband, Mark, and Joyce Rice; and brother-in-law, Joe Chandler.

A time for family and friends will be on Sunday, January 18th at the Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm for visitation.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Rev. Billy Bowles.

Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
