Joe Ray Williams
Birth: March 6, 1934
Death: May 7, 2012

Joe Ray Williams of Elmore City, Oklahoma was born to Ray and Mary J. [Rosebrough on March 6, 1934 in Elmore City, Oklahoma and passed from this life on May 7, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years.

Joe grew up in Elmore City and attended school at Bryant Elementary and high school at Tatums.

He then served his country in the U.S. Army. After serving in the military, Joe moved back to Oklahoma and Denver, Colorado where he served in the Army Reserves for seven years.

In 1969, he moved to Elmore City. Joe worked for Sun Oil in Duncan, Oklahoma and later worked for the Wynnewood Refinery for a number of years before retiring.

Throughout his life, Joe farmed and ranched. He enjoyed raising horses, riding in parades, rodeos, hunting, fishing and cars.

He was an ordained Deacon at Bethel Baptist for many years and recently united with Pilgrim Baptist Church.

The highlight of his life was his family.

Mr. Williams leaves to cherish his memory: Wife: Gwen Williams of the home 4 sons: Kerry Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Reginald Williams of Rio Rancho, New Mexico Ashley Ray Williams of Tatums, Oklahoma Marshal "Shawn" Williams of Limon, Colorado 2 step-sons: Virgil Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Samuel Ervin of Edmond, Oklahoma Daughter: Ella Williams and Harry of Amarillo, Texas 7 step-daugthers: Bernice Graham and Russell of Bellevue, Nebraska Dorothy Varner and Thomas of Ardmore, Oklahoma LaDonna Luckey and Anthony of Ada, Oklahoma Rozina Newby and Ron of Ada, Oklahoma Christon Hutchins and Michael of Ada, Oklahoma Hope Ezell and Jontue of Haslet, Texas Garielle Ervin of Davis, Oklahoma 2 sisters: Ioma Beasley of Marshall, Texas Thelma Plunkett and Joe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 3 half-sisters: Carolyn McConnell and her husband of Tatums, Oklahoma Drucilla Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Rebecca Breckenridge of Poland, Ohio 2 half-brothers: Ray Charles Williams of California Timothy Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

JoAnn S. [Stevenson] Williams
Birth: September 3, 1949
Death: October 9, 2005

Services for JoAnn S. Williams, 56, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Corinth Baptist Church with Pastor Tyrone Turner Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Little Flock Cemetery in Elmore City under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Daughter of Odele and Ernestine "Dolly" Williams Stevenson, she was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Ardmore and passed away Oct. 9, 2005, in Irving, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father; and grandparents.

JoAnn graduated from Ardmore Douglass High School in 1967 and continued her education at East Central University, Ada, earning a degree in nursing. She worked in health care as a home health nurse and at Baylor Medical Center in Irving.

She was a loving and compassionate daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend.

She and Walter L. Williams Sr. were married on Sept. 12, 1970. They were married for 18 years until tragically, Corp. Williams was killed in the line of duty on Aug. 2, 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Donnita Williams, sons, Walter L. Williams II, Lt. Michael Andrew Williams, Quanitico, Va., and Aaron T. Williams, Oklahoma City; her mother, Dolly, and stepfather, Joe Ray; sisters, Dorothy Varner and husband T.C., Ardmore, Berniece Graham and husband Russell, Bellevue, Neb.; brothers, Virgil L. Jones Jr., Ardmore, Windell and Rondell Stevenson, Fort Worth, Texas, Vincent Stevenson, Mansfield, Texas, and Marcus Stevenson; stepfather, Virgil Jones Sr.; stepmother, Ernestine Stevenson, Fort Worth; granddaughters, Jamonie and Kiara Williams; Godchild, Taylor Hayes; very special friend, George Smith; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
