Bobby Joe Shipley
November 20, 1933 ~ May 16, 2013


Bobby Joe Shipley, of Elmore City, passed away May 16, 2013 in Elmore City, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years.

He was born November 20, 1933 in Hennepin, Oklahoma to Luther Alvin Shipley and Margie.

He and Dorothy May Butler met through church and were married at Capital Hill Church of Christ in Oklahoma City on October 2, 1971.

He worked as a Machinist for Fred Jones for 31 years until his retirement.

Oklahoma City area was his home for 17 years and in 1985 moved to the Elmore City area.

He was a member of East Seminole Church of Christ in Wynnewood.

He loved being with his family and greatly enjoyed raising cattle, studying the Bible and reading books.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Alvin and Margie Shipley.

Surviving family include his wife of over 41 years, Dorothy Shipley of the home; four children, Chris Shipley of Oklahoma City; Julie Lynn Gunter and her husband, Kent, of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Melissa Lankford and her husband, Jared, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; and Hillary Shipley of the home; four grandsons, Zachary Gunter, Zeke Lankford, Jonathan Lankford and Brody Gunter as well as one granddaughter "on the way"; two brothers, John Shipley and his wife, Voncille, of Elmore City; and Luther Shipley, Jr and his wife, Laura, of Denver, Colorado; and two sisters, Martha Arms and Carolyn Coberly, both of Moore.

The family will greet friends of the Shipley family during a family visitation on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 am at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Paul Milton.

Interment will be at Katie Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
