Edward Johnson
September 3, 1934 ~ February 27, 2018

Edward Johnson, the fourteenth of fourteen children, was born to Cyrus and Katherine Johnson on September 3, 1934 in Wynnewood, Ok. He attended school in Wynnewood and graduated from Lincoln High in 1953.

After graduating from high school, Ed attended college at Langston University. While at Langston he was a member of the Christian Association, Alpha Rho Tau Fraternity, and a member of the Army Reserve. Ed graduated from Langston with a degree in Art Education and joined the United States Army where he served for two years before being honorable discharged. While in the Army he received the ╸Good Conductâ•v medal. Ed furthered his education after being discharged from the Army by attending Central State University in Edmond where he received his Masterâ•.s degree in education.

Ed began his teaching career in 1960, at Bryson High School in Fountain Inn, South Carolina. In 1968, he moved to Florida and began teaching at Jupiter Junior-Senior High School. He completed certification to become a high school counselor and became a high school guidance counselor in 1980. He worked in that capacity until he retired from the Palm Beach School District.

After retiring Ed spent most of his time volunteering for the election board, going for long walks every day and reading. He also enjoyed trips to the casino and watching sports. He looked forward to his yearly trip to Oklahoma for the Johnson Family Reunion. Ed loved the calm, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that Florida offered. He departed his life on Earth on February 27th, 2018, peacefully at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Fl.

Ed had no biological children, but his brothers and sisters blessed him with plenty of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters: Louise, Katherine, Amy, Johnnie Pearl, and Alice; eight brothers: Reuben, S.J., Julius, Alfred, Coy, Tom, Jim, and Titus. He leaves to cherish his memory many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
