Jewell Lo Rita Connelly of Foster, Oklahoma was born to Jewell Leo and Fan Jo [Warren] Potts on May 15, 1927 in Cooper, Oklahoma and passed from this life on August 4, 2009 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years.

Rita grew up and attended school in Edmond, Oklahoma.

On April 19, 1946, Rita married Doyle Connelly in Edmond, Oklahoma. They made their home in Elmore City in 1977.

She worked as a church secretary for 3 years in Irving, Texas at the East Side Church of Christ and for 13 ½ years at the Elmore City Church of Christ.

Rita was a member of the Garvin County Homemakers Club and the Pernell Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, and taking care of her dogs and cats. Rita loved to visit with her friends and family.

Mrs. Connelly is survived by: 2 sons: Mike Connelly and his wife Charlotte of Dallas, Texas Pat Connelly and his wife Audrey of Foster, Oklahoma 3 brothers: Gerald Potts of Davis, Oklahoma Joe David Potts and his wife Marquieta of Smithfield, Texas Phil Potts and his wife Betty of Phoenix, Arizona 1 brother-in-law: Marvin Connelly and his wife Mary Ann of Mapleton, Oregon 5 grandchildren: Amanda Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Brandi Smith of Little Kansas, Oklahoma; Nichole Eastman of Anadarko, Oklahoma; Little Ben Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Sarah Smith of Ft. Collins, Colorado 7 great-grandchildren 6 nephews: Gary Connelly and his wife Sherry of Wellston, Oklahoma; Roger Connelly and his wife Kathyrn of Del City, Oklahoma; Paul Connelly of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Gerald Potts, Jr. of Little Axe, Oklahoma; Billy Potts, U. S. Navy, Seattle, Washington and John Potts of Phoenix, Arizona 4 nieces: Sharon Miller and her husband George of Wellston, Oklahoma; Celeste Brown and her husband Floyd of Harrah, Oklahoma; Debbie Moon and Donna Moon A host of great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews Mrs. Connelly was preceded in death by: Her husband: Doyle Connelly Son: Terry Dean Connelly in 1949 1 brother: Emery Potts.

Funeral services for Mrs. Connelly are scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pernell Church of Christ with Tim Denton and David Frost officiating.

Interment will be in the Foster Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
